3D Glasses from Star Wars, another 3D option in theaters now. |
From an earlier blog:
Regal Cinemas is a first run, and fairly expensive theater chain. However, all movies are $5 on Tuesdays and club members get $2 popcorn. If you are a member of the Regal club you can earn free soda, popcorn and movie tickets. And you do actually get those. They give you a coupon for a free small popcorn, but you can pay the extra to upgrade to a large, usually $2. Free to join the club.
This Tuesday was the first time I went to the reduced price ticket night. There are only a few theaters in the area that have the special night, it's not every theater. Also, even though the sign inside said, "$5 Every Movie, Every Show" What they really meant was, "$5 Most Movies, Most Shows" In other words, extra fancy movies are more money. We watched Journey 2: The Mysterious Island in Real D 3D. The tickets were actually $8 each. However, the regular ticket price is $14, so it is still a good deal in comparison. Just not what seemed to be promised on the sign. On the website they do mention the potential for an extra charge.
Also, if you are a Regal Club member you can buy a small popcorn for $2, and upgrade to a large for $2 more. Half the price of a Large which is regularly $8,
I don't know if it is always super busy, or if it was just because it was Valentine's Day, but I waited in line for 15 minutes outside in the rain. So take that into consideration. Everyone is trying to save a buck these days, and who can blame them, so allow time to wait in line.

By the way, the movie, Journey 2, was awesome! Fun family film and the only agenda seems to be to get kids to read the classics!
