Subject: 37th Annual Cider Squeeze – September 29, 2012, 10am-4pm
Philip Foster Farm, 29912 SE Highway 211, Eagle Creek, OR

A chill is catching in the air, blackberries are darkening on the bushes, and leaves are turning. Overhead, the harvest moon grows rounder. Why not celebrate the coming fall with an old fashioned harvest festival at the Philip Foster Farm? Taking place on September 29th, our ever-popular Cider Squeeze is a day filled with crafts, food, music, and history-inspired activities. Bring your own apples and press your own cider on our authentic cider press, or purchase apples and cider from us on site. See local artists and craftsmen in action, watch historical demonstrations, play pioneer games, purchase fresh produce, and much more! All our usual farm activities - from tours of the Foster's 1883 home, to cabin building, to corn shelling and log hewing - will also be available. The fun gets started at 10am and goes until 4pm.

The Philip Foster Farm National Historic Site is open seven days a week from Father's Day through Labor Day from 11am -4pm, weekends only in May, September, and October. Entrance fee is $5.00 per person or $20.00 per family. Located at 29912 SE Highway 211, the farm is one of the few sites along the trail to actively interpret pioneer life. The site features the original 1860 barn and tack shop, the Philip Foster house circa 1883, a recreated working general store, blacksmith shop and log cabin. The five acre site includes several authentic covered wagons and carriages, beautiful grounds with heirloom flowers, orchard, vegetable garden and the oldest Lilac tree in the state. Staff in period clothing will help children of all ages be a pioneer for a day by building their own log cabin, shelling and grinding corn, washing clothes the old fashioned way and playing lawn games of times past.

Jody's Note

Phillip Foster Farm is a fun place for families.  The grounds are quite nice, historical, and packed with fun things for the kids to do.  Giant Lincoln Logs are AWESOME!  It's a bit far out there, but such a beautiful drive.  It's a great way to spend a fall afternoon with the family or with a group of girlfriends! Plus you will end up with some delicious Apple Cider!
