Relay for Life - July 28-29 - Centennial High School

The fact is that most poeple's lives have been touched by the devasting effects of Cancer, mine included.    Relay for life is trying to change that by helping to fund Cancer research.

Amanda Scott, director of Gresham's Relay for Life, contacted me with information about their upcoming event.

Amanda Scott....

It's going to be a great event for families. I myself have 3 kids and I can't wait for them to experience the event. We'll have music and food and games. We'll also have storytime and zumba and cakewalks.

A little blurb we have on our posters says:
"Relay for life is the American Cancer Society's national signature activity where teams raise money, honor survivors, and remember those who died from cancer. Teams walk throughout the night in the hope that we will find a cure for cancer. Relay for Life is an overnight event because cancer never sleeps. There will be all kind of activities geared toward families with kids of all ages and special treats for adults as well."

And that really speaks true to what this is all about. It's not only a time to raise money for cancer research, but also a time to connect and reach out to those in our local community that have been touched by cancer in one form or another. Whether you've had it, had family who has, or are a caregiver, you've been touched and we like to be there for those people.

An easy link to our website is http://www.relayforlife.org/greshamor . People can sign up to be on a team, buy luminaria to remember those they've lost, sign up to be a sponsored survivor, or just check out the dates and times and come out for a visit!

If you can join, contribute, or share some infromation, please do.
