Ensure you only enter information into a website with a .GOV address. Don't give your information to any .COM, .NET, .ORG websites. Only the federal government can have a .GOV address.
The application is easy and only takes a few minutes to complete. They already have all of your information on the student loan site, so they just need verification of who you are.
It should be noted that things are on hold right now because of a legal block, but that can change at any time. You can still fill out the application, they just aren't currently being processed.
