Summer Registration Is Back!

Registration for camps and activities that are held July 27 through August 23 opens on Thursday, June 11 at 9:30am.

Three campers run and play on a sunny day in the park.

Know Before You Register!

Classes, camps, and activities, especially swim lessons, fill up fast. For the best chance at getting into an activity, you should be ready to register as close to 9:30am as possible.

For the best chance at successful registration, we recommend registering online. During high-volume registration events, especially summer, you may experience a line (in-person, on the phone, and online). Wait times vary, and each queue moves through customers in the order they are received.

Before Registration Day

  1. Create or confirm your Portland Parks & Recreation account (ActiveNet)
  2. If you want to use an Access Discount, each participant in the household should have an Access Discount (not just the payer).
  3. If you can, attach a credit card to your account for easy and quick payment.
  4. Activities are viewable online two weeks before registration opens. Use the Recreation Activity Guide to find the activities you're interested in and click the heart icon to add them to your "Saved for Later" list.

On Registration Day

  1. Sign in to your account a couple minutes early and click on "My saved for later list." On a mobile device, go to "My Account" page, click "Other Service," and then "Manage Saved for Later List."
  2. Enroll: At 9:30am, you will be able to enroll in the activities on your "Saved for later List". You will have to click "enroll now," and "add to cart," for each activity to move it over to your cart.
  3. Check out: If you're registering for more than one activity, click back to "my saved for later list," before you check out, so you can add all activities to your shopping cart and check out with one transaction.
  • If the participant has an Access Discount, it will be automatically applied to the cost of registration.
  • If an activity is full, add yourself to the waitlist. You will be contacted if a spot becomes available.

High Volume Virtual Line

During times of high-volume registrations, or rush periods, a virtual lineup will be activated. This is to prevent the crashing of sites during unusually high traffic times. During a rush registration event, the typical user experience will be:

  1. Line activated: User receives a place in line and gets notified with the estimated wait time.
  2. Wait: The queue moves through customers in the order they are added. If you are placed in line, you should wait until it is your turn.
    • Do not hit the back button.
    • If you try and log in using another device, or exit the screen and try again, you will move further down the line.
  3. Enroll: As soon as a spot is open and it is your turn, you will have time to process all available transactions. For example, if you're in the queue for 10 minutes, once the queue redirects you, you will be able to add all available activities to your cart and check out!

Support Services

We believe recreation is for everyone. To support people participating in activities, we offer a variety of services.

  • If the price of activities is too high, you can sign up for an Access Discount and get 25%, 50%, 75%, or 90% off. Access Discounts are only available for City of Portland residents. You do not need to show proof of income. If you want to use an Access Discount, each participant in the household should have an Access Discount (not just the payer).
  • If you are registered for an activity and have a disability, you can request support from Inclusion Services.
  • If you need to request an ADA accommodation, call 3-1-1 (503-823-4000 outside Multnomah County or VOIP). Once you submit a form, a PP&R staff member will respond within three days.
