Foster Children FREE at Portland Aquarium

If you are kind and wonderful enough to be a foster parent, the Portland Aquarium is thanking you by allowing Foster Children into the Aquarium for FREE.

From their website:

•  Foster children are always welcome at our aquarium, free of admission cost. We know how stressful being in the foster system can be. We’d like to help brighten a foster child’s day, if even just for a few hours. The foster parent just needs to present state issued ID for their foster children at the box office.

I haven't been to the aquarium yet, but it looks amazing.  I drive by all the time and their parking lot is jam packed, so I am assuming people really enjoy it!  Their prices are quite low and a great rate for annual passes if you think your kids might want to go back a few times. They also have a lower cost for Field Trips, which includes Homeschoolers.  Fun and Sciencey, you gotta love it!

Low Cost Internet for Low Income Families with Children on FREE lunch.

Comcast has a resource for low-income families who may not otherwise be able to afford Internet.
Internet Essentials is a Comcast-sponsored program that makes Internet access available to low-income households with children who receive free or reduced fee school lunches under the National School Lunch Program.

If you are interested in Internet Essentials just call (855) 846-8376.

While participating in the program, customers may receive a low-cost Internet connection and computer, with free Internet training. Internet connection is $9.95 per month plus tax. Computer is $149 plus tax. It is not necessary to purchase the low-cost computer to obtain the low-cost Internet connection.

Family must have children who receive free school lunches under the National School Lunch Program. Must live in an area where Comcast Internet service is offered. Cannot have received Comcast Internet service within last 90 days, and may not have a past due bill or unreturned equipment with Comcast. Call for more information about eligibility requirements.

Happy Holidays! I hope yours were fantastic!



I hope that you and your family had a wonderful Holiday season together.  And I know it's time to start thinking about what else to do with the kids until school is back in.  Remember that there are lots of ideas on the       and  pages.

 

 

A few weeks ago I was invited to attend the Magic Show at Mall 205.  The show appeared to be a sell out, with lots of smiling little faces.  Kids were enchanted by the magic and excited to get the chance to come on stage and be an assistant.  What a fun family event!  I would suggest going early to get good seats.  We arrived just before show time and had to sit in the back row.  Concessions are inexpensive and the two hour show is a hoot!

 

At $45 for a family 5 pack.  It's a pretty good deal for 2 hours of entertainment.  They also give you various mall coupons at the door.  The entire show we could smell the tasty aromas of the Gyros and Pizza places near by.

 

The next show is this weekend. They are doing two shows on  December 28th and 29th at 2pm.

Christmas in Dairyville is a winter wonderland filled with 300+ flocked trees, live animals that make up the various scenes in Storybook Lane, old holiday movie screenings in the iconic Opera House, carolers and choirs signing the nostalgic sounds of the Christmas Season and holiday dance performances. You can stroll the vintage storefronts of Dairyville, stop by the holiday gift shop, enjoy a cup of cocoa or hot apple cider as well as treat yourself to homemade goodies from the bakery. And last, but certainly not least, stop by and say hi to Santa and have a professional photo taken with your family.

“We are excited to bring this holiday tradition back again this year to the community,” said Tracey Cadonau McKinnon fifth generation Alpenrose dairy farmer. “This is one of my favorite times of the year as you can really feel the holiday magic come to life as visitors stroll through Dairyville.”

Christmas in Dairyville will be open Fridays 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays & Sundays 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.:

Proceeds from various sales at Storybook Lane will benefit several charities throughout Oregon including local 4-H programs.
