The cozy lodge is a welcome relief after a full day on the slopes. John Quincy Adams Young and his family traveled the Oregon Trail in the late 1840s to settle in the Oregon Territory. He built his historic house in 1863 on about a half-acre next to Cedar Mill Creek. Young lived in the New England "salt box"-style house with his wife, Elizabeth Constable Young, and children. In 1869, Young and a partner bought the local sawmill next to Cedar Mill Creek.

The only ski area in North America that's open 12 months of the year. The lodge is located near the top of Mt. Hood and offers some of the state’s most scenic skiing and up to 3,590 vertical feet. Afterward, dine or stay overnight at historic Timberline Lodge, a classic WPA-era lodge, complete with two resident St. Bernards named Bruno and Heidi. The cozy lodge is a welcome relief after a full day on the slopes. In the height of winter, the ground floor of the lodge is typically fully buried in snow, with entry through a snow tunnel, or directly into the second floor.

The North Portland Tool Library (NPTL) is a community resource dedicated to building community and fostering sustainability by providing residents with tools and the power to use them. We loan a wide variety of tools to community members free of charge. The NPTL benefits North Portland residents by reducing the costs of maintaining and improving the places in which we live, work, and play.
